Life Dances is the series where everything began — where the pixel pittorico first took shape, still raw, still finding itself.

Dance was a childhood dream. Before the palette knife and the pixel pittorico, there was the desire to move, to feel free in a body in motion.

At the heart of it is the tango. Not just a dance — a metaphor for life. Two people share a direction, each with their own space, entered only by invitation. In the tango, every body keeps its own autonomy — and offers it to the other. One leads, the other trusts and follows. It is built on respect, on reciprocity, on the courage to surrender without losing oneself. It holds passion and effort, connection and solitude, the joy of harmony and the difficulty of reaching it. In the embrace, the pixels merge — two bodies that touch become something neither was before.

Alongside the tango: the pizzica, ancestral and liberating, and the harvest dance — joy rising from the earth. Different rhythms, the same impulse: to be alive, together, in motion.

A series that paused — for now. But the research it opened never did.

Tango sul Molo

Tango sul Molo by Assunta Cassa, a horizontal figurative watercolor set on the South Pier in San Benedetto del Tronto, on Italy’s Adriatic coast. In the foreground at the center, a couple dances the tango. The woman, seen mainly from behind and slightly in profile, wears high heels and clothing painted in warm shades of yellow, orange, ochre, brown and black; her partner dances close behind her. In the background on the left, a seated musician plays the bandoneon, rendered in blues, greys and touches of pink. Behind the dancers, toward the right, another musician dressed in blue plays an orange-brown double bass. At the far right, a fisherman wearing a light-blue cap and blue jacket rides a bicycle. Pale transparent blues suggest the sea and sky in the background, while parts of the pier and the base of the sculpture La Nave appear on the right. Large areas of white paper remain visible between loose washes and stronger patches of color, giving the scene a light, lively sense of movement.
